Oh, to be young again.

We gave Meghan a photo scanner some time ago.  She has all of the family pictures and has been scanning them religiously.  These two were scanned from the slides we took in 1978 on our first trip to England.

We no longer have a slide projector so I haven’t seen these in at least 20 years.  I was just about overwhelmed at the emotions the pictures elicited.  I didn’t realize how much I loved this adventure until I saw the slides again.

Up above is Steve on a blustery day in Folkstone and Dover.  The statue is Mr. Royce or Rolls Royce fame, and in the background are the white cliffs.

This is me.  I’m still wearing shoes with thick soles.  It was July and I loved that I needed the sweater.  Mostly I wore skirts thinking that would make me appear less of a tourist, but it was really cold that day.

On this trip I bought my First issue of Rowan Magazine in a little village yarn shop.  I still have it.  It is Issue no. 15 and the latest is 47. Actually, I’d never even heard of Rowan at the time, but I knew I could knit (just didn’t) and I liked the pictures.

  1. This is a little mind blowing for those of us who didn’t believe you when you said you were a red head.

  2. Hair!
    We all had HAIR!

It must be in the air today… Tina over at Blue Moon is excavating old samples, and I just made an ’80s mix playlist on iTunes!

    Enjoy the rambles…

  3. Ohhhh, you are both so sixties cool!

What a neat thing for Meghan to do for you! I see a possible project for one of my kids …
